SHEFFIELD, IOWA – The Seth Tuttle Basketball Camp welcomed 85 boys and girls to Sheffield earlier this month in a successful first year effort.
Former West Fork basketball standout and UNI Panther Seth Tuttle directed the camp, which was held at the West Fork High School in Sheffield, Iowa, Tuttle’s home town. The two-day camp was held on July 7 & 8 as well as July 9 & 10. The camp was broken into 3 groups, grades 1-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12.
“Kids really came to play, brought a ton of energy, and we had a ton of fun,” Tuttle said as the camps got underway.
Participants say the camp “was extremely successful”, and Tuttle was jubilant about his experience with the campers. Kids learned shooting, fundamentals and fitness while in the camp, learning from one of North Iowa’s finest athletes.
“I can honestly say it was one of my favorite experiences I have ever been apart of,” Tuttle said via social media. “Basketball is an amazing sport, it is so much fun and can teach you so many life lessons, including taking you to different places of the world.”
Tuttle, who currently plays for s.Oliver Baskets of Germany, thanked the West Fork school district, who he said “was incredible in allowing me to use their facilities” and named off a number of assistants an helpers who made the camp possible. He mentioned “Spencer Halloran. Sam Amsbaugh. Carson Parker. Trent Trask. Nate Buss. Kyle Nikkel. Zach Martinek. Frank Schnoes. Kayla Tuttle. I want to thank my parents Jim and Vicki Tuttle for helping and allowing hospitality and food! And lastly I want to give a HUGE thanks to Eric Burt for doing so much for this camp. He was the mastermind behind nearly everything and he helped me so much in running my first ever camp.”
He also mentioned the 85 campers themselves, who he described as “fantastic listeners and were very fun to work with”.
With year one is in the books, organizers say plans are being made for next year. Tuttle’s website includes a registration form for parents interested in sending their kids to his camp.
