Convicted burglar and counterfeiter back in jail

MASON CITY – A former Garner man who has been living in Mason City and was charged with numerous felonies is back behind bars.

Bradley Gene Gouge, age 24, faces the revocation of his parole for the second time in a burglary conviction out of Hancock county. He was in the Kossuth county jail after he was arrested up there for driving with a suspended license. He was then transferred to the Cerro Gordo jail on February 18 as the Iowa Department of Corrections accused him of the parole violation. He is being held on no bond.

Gouge – who claims now to be a laborer for Winnebago – made the news back in 2011, when he was charged with counterfeit forgery, a class D felony, for an incident that occurred on May 23, 2011 at Kum & Go Central located at 418 S. Federal Avenue in Mason City. George presented a counterfeit $100 dollar bill to the convenience store attendant. Later in 2011, he pled guilty to a reduced forgery charge.

After that incident, Gouge apparently went on a crime spree of sorts, as he was charged with numerous burglary crimes in Hancock county over the next year or so, most ending in guilty pleas. His parole was revoked last May for the first time in this case.
