The Charles City Police Department reported that there was a fire call at the Apple Valley Assisted-living facility Tuesday afternoon just after 1 PM and there were evacuations as the scene was made safe.
“It was heart warming to see citizens come with their warm cars and allow the evacuated residents to sit in them until they could be let back in,” police reported.
“It’s nice to live in a community where people see a need and help out other people.”
There were no reports of injuries during the fire call incident, which mostly involved smoke, NIT is told. Nearly 30 residents were evacuated.
