Third drunk driving guilty plea will cost Mason City man over $5K and 60 days in jail

MASON CITY – A man facing a felony drunk driving charge escaped a more serious punishment after he accepted a plea deal.

Brant Robert Merideth, age 35, was charged with felony third offense operating while intoxicated on March 7 after he was stopped by Clear Lake police two days earlier. On August 5, Merideth accepted a guilty plea to second offense operating while intoxicated and was sent to jail for 60 days. He was also ordered to pay $5,285.94 in fines and court fees.

Merideth has been arrested twice earlier for drunk driving; once in 2004 and once in 2009. He has already pled guilty once before to second offense operating while intoxicated, after the 2009 arrest.

If he had a pretty face like the other 2 on this page he’d be out walking instead of doing 60 days.

Next time he will kill somebody and then it will be too late to get this guy off the street….

Who is letting these people off the hook? Shame on them!
