WASHINGTON, D.C. – Iowa Democrats are reminding voters that MAGA GOP Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and other extreme right politicians have fought to outlaw IVF and other reproductive rights for women.
According to the Iowa Democratic Party:
Iowa families have been bracing themselves as they witness IVF paused in Alabama because Donald Trump intentionally appointed three Supreme Court justices who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. What’s happening in Alabama is a direct result of the attacks Trump and Iowa Republicans have been making on freedom for years, from contraception to IVF. Case in point: Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Randy Feenstra all sponsored the Life at Conception Act – an extreme bill that would severely restrict reproductive freedoms for Iowa women.
“Iowa Republicans have lost common sense and are out of touch with everyday Iowans when it comes to abortion, IVF and family planning so they are covering up their voting records on these issues,” said IDP Chair Rita Hart. “Instead of listening to what they say, watch how they legislate. They have already supported legislation that clearly states life begins at fertilization, with no exceptions for IVF. Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Ashley Hinson, have already tried to restrict our reproductive rights with no protections for IVF by co-sponsoring the Life at Conception Act. Zach Nunn joins his fellow extremists in doing nothing to protect IVF care for Iowa families. It’s cruel to promise Iowans who are planning families that they will protect IVF when in reality they support legislation that says life begins at fertilization.”
MAGA House Republicans support legislation that would take away reproductive rights: Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Randy Feenstra have all co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, which would completely restrict reproductive freedom without any protections for IVF.
