MASON CITY – A Mason City woman pleaded guilty to drunk driving after a hit and run accident earlier last year in Clear Lake.
Police told NIT that 28-year-old Hillary Ann Marie Hermen was stopped by an officer after she had been involved in a hit-and-run incident at 3rd Avenue North and North Shore Drive in Clear Lake on the evening of March 3, 2014. The officer stopped her car about 30 minutes later.
Hermen was charged with third offense operating while intoxicated. She pleaded guilty to second offense operating while intoxicated in 2008. Hermen was also charged with interference with official acts. Police were unable to elaborate on that charge. She was also charged with failure to prove liability insurance.
On January 7, Hermen accepted a guilty plea to third offense operating while intoxicated and avoided a 5 year prison term. She was sent to jail for 30 days with work release. She was also ordered to pay $4,573.75 in court costs and fines.

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
Here you are. Driving drunk with no license and no insurance. This is so damn typical of a lot of people these days. No regard for anyone else at all. This one is so young and has just about destroyed her life over drinking alcohol.
Guess the courts are waiting for her to kill someone before they see her as a problem.. Good grief!
Another multiple OWI offender that the court system has let go. Another risk to others on the road.
