Willett: We were not “hoodwinked” by CES

At Tuesday night’s Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting, North Iowa Corridor Director Brent Willett said that no one was “hoodwinked” by Creative Energy Solutions (CES).

Willett said he wanted to address rumors or accusations in the community that somehow CES or its representatives were not honest or good people with good intentions.

“The perception that we have somehow been hoodwinked by this company is patently false,” he said.

A groundswell of opinion is now taking shape for and against a proposed trash to gas plant destined for Mason City’s south side.

The plant would be located only about mile from Newman Schools and daycare, on 43rd Street SW adjacent to the Golden Grain plant.

CES was at the board meeting seeking a conditional use permit so that they can build their plant.

Willett said time is of the essence to “land” this project.

“We do not have an indefinite period of time,” he said. “The presumption that they are here to stay” is not accurate, he continued.

Willett encouraged the board to make their decision with “all deliberate speed.”
