MASON CITY – Texas Senator Ted Cruz visited Mason City Tuesday and spoke to a crowd of about 200 people during a “Dessert Reception” at the Music Man Square.
The Cerro Gordo County Republican Party organized the event.
“We packed the room with 250 people for our fundraiser with Sen. Ted Cruz tonight, raised 8,000.00 dollars, made the Des Moines Register and ignited the wildfire of liberty in North Iowa!” the organization said.
Tickets cost between $25.00 and $250.00
“Each of you at the Cerro Gordo County GOP are committed to the Constitution & together we’ll restore morning in America,” Cruz said.
Cruz also told the crowd that “America is on the wrong path.”
Cruz, a rumored candidate for the 2016 Presidential race, is an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama and a major supporter of gun rights, and a hawk on foreign policy.
“Bullies & thugs don’t respect weakness & appeasement, the only language they understand is strength,” Cruz wrote Wednesday.
