MONTEZUMA, IOWA – A missing Iowa boy gone for months was found deceased in a rural area Friday.
On May 27, 2021, 10-year-old Xavior Harrelson was reported missing from his home in Montezuma, Iowa by a family friend. An extensive search was conducted since this time in the hopes of finding the child alive.
On September 30, 2021, human remains were located in a rural area approximately 3 miles northwest of Montezuma.
On October 15, 2021, the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office that the human remains have been positively identified as those of Xavior Harrelson.
The cause of death has not been released at this time.
