There are six payout classifications for the races. They start with Junior Hornets, these are the new drivers or first time drivers. They have to be at least 13 years old and the payout for the winner is $30. The next is the Hornets with a payout of $50, the Hobby Stock and Sports Mod with $200 payouts, the Stock Cars with $350 payout, and Modifieds with a payout of $500 with 15+ cars and $400 with 14 and under.
The cars race on a 1/2 mile semi banked dirt oval track and the race go from April to late September.

Joe Ringsdorf, promoter of not only the I-35 Speedway, as well as the Algona, Fairmont, and Hancock County races. He does the work around the race area, as well as keeping up his own equipment.
Unlike many other entertainment places, Joe has not raised the price of admission in several years. It is still only $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for 6-12 year olds and 5 and under free.
