Leslie L. “Les” Tyler, 89, of Oelwein, Iowa and formerly of Randalia, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, October 28, 2025, at MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center in Oelwein.
Celebration of Life Gathering: 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. November 8, 2025, at the Maynard Community Hall in Maynard, Iowa.
A private family service will be held at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard, with Rev. Julie Ahrens officiating.

Leslie Laverne Tyler was born June 24, 1936, at Volga, Iowa, the son of Izaac Wesley and Geneva May (Gray) Tyler. Over the years, Les worked in road construction, made butter at several creameries, farmed and was an electrician for the Great Western Railroad. In June of 1954, he was united in marriage to Clare Aubrey Cummings. This union was blessed with three children, Marv, Melinda and Marva. They later divorced. On March 20, 1982, he was united in marriage to Judith Elaine (Salmon) Conner at the United Methodist Church in Randalia. Les enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and tinkering.
Les is survived by his son: Marv (Martha) Tyler of Maynard; daughter: Marva “Babe” (Walter) Wood of Sumner; son-in-law: Dean Teague of Randalia; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 2 stepchildren: Robert (Laura) Conner of Oelwein and Connie Conner of Sumner; 2 brothers: Gerald Tyler of Lexington, South Carolina and Don (Mary) Tyler of Harpers Ferry; sister-in-law: Nancy Tyler of Independence; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Burl Doty; wife: Judy on September 21, 2022; daughter: Melinda “Linda” Teague on September 29, 2020; stepdaughter: Georgia Conner; 2 sisters: Darlene Marie Tyler at infancy and Barbara Jensen; brother: Raymond Tyler; and sister-in-law: Shirley Tyler.
