WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steve King released the following statement on Thursday after the House voted to pass two separate appropriations bills of immediate priority. The measures are H.R. 3230, the Pay Our Guard and Reserve Act and H.J. Res. 72, the Honoring Our Promise to America’s Veterans Act.

“Time and again the House has voted to keep the critical parts of the government funded in light of the partial shutdown,” said King. “Today, we passed yet another two measures, this time to provide the necessary aid for two of the most vital components of our nation’s armed services – our National Guard and Reserves and our veterans. I am glad to see these measures passed today to give our National Guard and Reserves the assurance they need to continue to put their lives on the line in service to our country, and assistance for our veterans who have already sacrificed so much. It is time for the Senate to act and then for the President to sign these into law immediately.”

No one with any brains is believing Obama’s lies on this. Closing down parks just to be vindictive an hurt people as much as possible to try to discredit the Republicans. People are seeing right through their feeble attempts.

Bringing gates around where it was an open walkway 24 hrs of the day 7 days a week before and now purposely closed??? It shows you what Obama won’t pull to get his way. Well his goal is to take this country down to a third world country. Look at those jumping on board helping him. So far he’s the only President that won’t sit at the table and try to work things out. Like a spoiled baby, it’s only my way or no way!! From the President on down, they all should get booted out. We, the American public are going to pay for what we voted in.

what we voted in are people like King. That is where the mistake was made. Pres. Obama is more than willing to negotiate but he refuses to be dictated to or held hostage

what drugs are you taking? Obama said he WILL NOT negotiate with the republicans. He is a spoiled little brat that will throw a tantrum if he doesn’t get his way.

This can all be ended very easily. Just let the House vote to fund the government without the defunding of the ACA. It will pass the House. Boehmer is so afraid of losing his job that he once again has caved to the right wing extremists. The minority even in their own party.

DR Dunn, again you are showing that you are not paying attention to what goes on in Washington. You stated: “This can all be ended very easily. Just let the House vote to fund the government without the defunding of the ACA.”

There was a vote passed by the House and sent to the Senate on Monday to fund the entire government including implimentation of the ACA for those who want to take advantage of it right away. All that the house bill was asking for was to delay the individual mandate for one year, just like Obama already did for Businesses. Harry Ried wouldn’t even bring it to a vote in the Senate.

Can’t you see a problem with this? King Obama has the power to delay the employer mandate for one year but the House has no athority to ask for the same deal for individuals? Sounds like the King Obama that you neal to is real good at negociating.

@Dunn-come on. Obama is the worst president we have ever had, period. His administration is unprofessional hour 24/7. Look at what you people did with the I.R.S. Libya and all the other crap they have tried to pull. Now he is trying to intimidate the whole country again by making the shutdown as hard as he can. Quit watching MSNBC and turn to some other news outlets and you will learn something. Just like that happy guy.

The GOP is trying to piecemeal the government together. That is no way to run the government. There is no way the Senate should pass this bill or the President sign it. Either vote to open all government or face the consequences next year.
