FAYETTE — An alleged underage drug-and-alcohol party drawing roughly 50 people to a remote Northern Iowa property was busted by law enforcement after deputies secured a narcotics search warrant, with a drone deployed to hunt down partygoers who allegedly fled the scene.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report at approximately 9:00 PM on September 26 that an underage party was underway at 12378 165th Street near Fayette, where illegal substances and alcohol were allegedly being used.

Deputies quickly applied for a narcotics search warrant, which was granted.

About an hour after the original report, deputies descended on the property to execute the warrant.

Authorities said approximately 50 people were present.

Some allegedly took off when law enforcement arrived, but deputies weren’t finished with them.

The sheriff’s office said those who fled were later located and detained with the help of a drone.

Drugs, paraphernalia and booze allegedly found

Deputies searched the residence and surrounding property and allegedly discovered illegal substances, drug paraphernalia and alcohol.

Investigators then conducted numerous interviews as they worked to determine who was responsible for the substances and activity taking place at the property.

Three young men were ultimately arrested.

Alan James Millin, 22, of Fayette, was charged with gathering where controlled substances are used — marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.

Nolan Duane Lamphier, 20, of Fayette, was charged with possession of marijuana, first offense, and gathering where controlled substances are used — marijuana. Both charges are serious misdemeanors.

Skyler Louis Mckey, 19, of Colesburg, was charged with possession of marijuana, first offense, a serious misdemeanor, and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

Numerous underage drinking citations

The three arrests apparently represent only part of the fallout from the sprawling party.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said numerous individuals were cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

Authorities also said numerous juvenile referrals remain pending for alleged illegal conduct.

The investigation remains underway and additional charges are possible.

The West Union Police Department assisted the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The bust comes amid continued drug enforcement activity in Fayette County. Earlier in September, NIT reported on a Northern Iowa drug lair raided after authorities allegedly uncovered methamphetamine and marijuana.

NIT also previously reported on a remote Fayette County traffic stop that allegedly turned up methamphetamine intended for delivery along with marijuana.

The latest case remains under investigation.

All criminal charges are allegations. Those charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
