Iowa authorities searching for missing woman with dementia

IOWA CITY – An Iowa woman afflicted with dementia got in a car and started driving and is now missing, leading authorities to ask for the public’s help in locating her.

Linda Stokes left the 1000 Block of Williams Street at about 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024. She was operating a Maroon 2013 Honda Accord with an old Illinois license plate on the front and a temporary Illinois tag bearing 987AB967 on the rear.

Stokes (pictured at top), is 74 years old, 5’3″, with tan complexion, and salt and pepper hair. She has dementia, is unfamiliar with the area, and responds to the nickname “Punkin.”

Anyone with information on Stokes’ whereabouts should contact their local police.
