Jacqueline “Jackie” Ritter, 94, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City with her family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with Reverend Ray Atwood officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
Jackie was born September 3, 1932, to Joseph and Helen Fishbach Cimmiyotti.
She married Paul Joseph Ritter on April 30, 1951. After Paul completed his service in the United States Army, the couple settled in the Colwell area, where they built a life around farming and family.
Jackie helped on the family farm, raised their four children and assisted Paul with the Pioneer Seed business.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was active in church circles. Jackie was also involved with Women of the Moose and the Double “C” Saddle Club.
Family remained at the center of her life.
One of the most recent family traditions Jackie was able to enjoy was the annual “Christmas in September” gathering at the farm, bringing generations of the family together.
She also enjoyed tending flower and vegetable gardens, playing cards and making blankets for family and friends.
Her blankets reached beyond her own family as well, with Jackie donating some of her work to charitable causes.
The card game “07’s,” as Jackie called it, became another familiar part of family gatherings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Linda Kuncl and Tom Naughton of Iowa City, Marlene (Rick) Cordes of Charles City, Duane (Julie) Ritter of Charles City and LuAnn (Kim) Kissell of Peosta.
She also leaves eight grandchildren, Andrew Cordes, Jason (Amber) Cordes, Brad (Samantha) Ritter, Brooke Peters, Kelsey (Vincent) Gerlits, Todd Kuncl, Mackenzie Kissell and Garrett Kissell and Katie Kinsella; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Marlie Bade; brothers Ronnie Cimmiyotti and Gordon Cimmiyotti; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; sisters Leola Brady and Lois Reuter; brother Stan Cimmiyotti; and her special canine companion, Charlie.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Colwell Fire Department.
