CHARLES CITY – A Friday morning crash in Floyd county sent a Charles City man and a Rockwell man to a hospital.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash took place on Friday, May 9, at 8:10 AM, just outside Charles City in Floyd county. Emergency responders were sent to the northbound lanes of Highway 218, at mile marker 227, for a two-vehicle collision. The Patrol says a John Deere tractor with a planter attached, driven by 54-year-old William Joseph Ruzicka of Charles City was northbound on Highway 218 when a Ford F-650 pickup truck driven by 37-year-old Trevor Daniel Winfrey of Rockwell approached, also traveling northbound on Highway 218. Winfrey’s truck struck the planter, which spun the tractor, causing it to flip over. Ruzicka was ejected from the tractor. The pickup came to rest upright in a ditch.

As a result of the crash, both men were taken by AMR Ambulance to the Floyd County Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
