SUMNER — Ronald Raymond Kuethe, 88, of Sumner, died Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Cobblestone Court Assisted Living in Sumner, leaving a legacy rooted in agriculture, faith and family.
Visitation will take place Friday, September 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner. A rosary will precede visitation at 4:30 p.m., with a Scripture service at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner, celebrated by the Rev. Henry Huber. Visitation will also be available at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery near Sumner. Memorial contributions may be directed to Community Memorial Hospital or SEMS in Sumner.
A 1956 Sumner High School graduate, Ron turned a senior-year FFA turkey project into a livelihood. He and his father continued the venture as Kuethe Turkey Farms, where Ron worked until retiring in 2002.
Ron met Maria Theresa “Terri” Miranda Gonzalez while visiting his brother at the University of Iowa. They married in Puerto Rico in 1960. He worked full time with the Air National Guard there before the family returned to Sumner in 1966.
His community involvement included serving as president of the Iowa Turkey Federation and participating at Meadowbrook Country Club. A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ron enjoyed music, golf, Hawkeye sports and cheering on Sumner athletes.
He leaves three children, Ronnie, Cindy and Michelle; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five siblings. His wife, parents and a brother-in-law preceded him in death.
