Merlyn Albrecht, 82, of Ackley, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Maple Manor in Aplington. Arrangements are pending at this time. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Merlyn and his family.
Merlyn Ray Albrecht was born on May 14, 1942 to Allie and Lillian (Peters) Albrecht in Charles City, Iowa and grew up in Greene. He graduated from Greene High School.
Merlyn was a brick layer by trade for over 50 years, providing for his loving wife, Arlene and children: Josh, Joe, Cindy and Laura. His interests in life included fishing, raising rabbits and horses, cutting and burning wood. As a kid he would most likely be found on the river swimming or fishing. Early in life Merlyn enjoyed fixing up old trucks, riding his Harley and camping/fishing. One of the campgrounds he would frequent is Rock Creek State Park. Merlyn loved his tractors and to spend time woodworking.
Merlyn is survived by his wife, Arlene Albrecht of Aplington, Iowa; children, Josh Albrecht of Ackley, Iowa, Joe Albrecht of Ackley, Iowa, Cindy McCarthy of Waterloo, Iowa and Laura Bruch of New Hartford, Iowa; grandchildren: Shannon Wilson, Matthew Bruch, Jacob Bruch, Lexie McCarthy, Holly McCarthy, Kayla Albrecht, Dakota Albrecht, Audrina Albrecht, Jesse Albrecht and Peyton Albrecht. He is also survived by Arlene Albrecht of Parkersburg; Don (Connie) Albrecht of Clarksville and Larry Albrecht of Greene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Lillian Albrecht as well as Laura Johnson and Matthew Bruch.
