Northern Iowa man dead when UTV struck by Chrysler 200

JANESVILLE - A Northern Iowa man died when the Polaris UTV he was operating turned in front of a Chrysler 200 passenger car, hurtling both vehicles into a ditch.

JANESVILLE – A Northern Iowa man died when the Polaris UTV he was operating turned in front of a Chrysler 200 passenger car, hurtling both vehicles into a ditch.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place at 2:20 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024. A 2019 Polaris Ranger driven by 56-year-old Andrew Eric Clark of Cedar Falls was traveling northbound on Union Road, just west of Janesville. The UTV failed to yield and turned in front of a 2013 Chrysler 200 driven by 41-year-old Karl Chauncy Topmkins of Ryan, Iowa. The ensuing collision sent both vehicles into a ditch. The UTV caught on fire.

As a result, Clark was killed, and Tompkins was injured.
