RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A single vehicle accident sent a Sheffield couple to a Mason City hospital Monday evening.
At approximately 6:00 PM on April 27, 2020, a 2013 gold Chrysler Town and Country Touring Van being driven by Larry Richard Meints, 73, and Donna Lou Meints, 71, of Sheffield, Iowa was traveling southbound on Partridge Avenue at 170th Street in Cerro Gordo County. Upon trying to make a left turn the van had a mechanical issue with the braking system. Due to the mechanical issue, Larry lost control and the vehicle left the roadway and entered the road ditch.
Both Larry and Donna were taken to Mercy One North Iowa for medical treatment for minor injuries as a result of the crash.
No charges are being filed in this accident.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rockwell Fire Department, Rockwell EMT’s and Mason City medics.
