Mason City police report vandals launch new rock-throwing spree

MASON CITY - Vandals took a night off and resumed a rock-throwing spree in Mason City, police say, causing damage on half a dozen streets.

MASON CITY – Vandals took a night off and resumed a rock-throwing spree in Mason City, police say, causing damage on half a dozen streets.

On March 16, 2024, Mason City Police responded to seven more calls of house and vehicle windows being broken out with rocks.

“We are asking for residents to check their camera footage and to call us at 641-421-3636 if they have any information,” police advised.

The incidents occurred between midnight and 2:30 AM in the following locations:

1700 Blk of S Coolidge
600 Blk of South Polk
1500 Blk of N Adams
700 Blk of N Carolina
900 to 1300 blocks of N Hampshire
1000 Blk of 1st St NE

On March 14, police said the first wave of vandalism hit town in an east side neighborhood.  Place vehicles in a garage if at all possible.  If you hear a potential vandal bragging about their conquests, turn them in.  Remember, “don’t be afraid of snitchin’.”
