OKLAHOMA CITY, April 18 (UPI) — A convicted Oklahoma rapist said in a court filing he may kill himself if he does not receive a requested sex-change operation at state expense.
Ronny Darnell, imprisoned in 2005 for raping a 13-year-old girl, has repeatedly asked for sex-reassignment surgery, The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported Thursday.
Referring to himself as a female in federal court documents, Darnell wrote in his filing, “Ms. Ronny Darnell has made a pact with herself that if at age 45 she had not achieved her goal of getting back on hormone therapy, she would consider her life hopeless and meaningless … In the absence of becoming a female, she would not continue living as a male.”
Darnell turns 45 on June 21, records show.
In addition to the $20,000 surgery, Darnell is demanding laser hair removal treatment, female hormones and counseling by a doctor who specializes in gender identity disorder, with which Darnell claims to be afflicted, the newspaper said.
