STRATFORD, IOWA – A medical helicopter had to make an emergency landing near Stratford, Iowa, early Thursday morning.
On April 13th at 1:50 AM, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call for assistance from Life Flight medical helicopter, saying they had to make an unplanned emergency landing north of Stratford. The crew member stated that they had struck a bird while in flight and it had broken out the windshield and all crew members were uninjured.
Officials located the helicopter in the 3500 mile of Stagecoach road in a farm field.
The helicopter is owned by Unity Point Health, Trinity Regional Medical Center based out of Fort Dodge. They were returning to Fort Dodge after transferring a patient to Iowa City.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Stratford Fire Department.
