President Trump signs Phase 1 Trade Agreement with China, Iowa leaders thrilled

President Trump signs the trade del with China on January 14, 2020.

DES MOINES – President Donald Trump signed a trade deal with China Wednesday, and several top Iowa political leaders were thrilled with the outcome.

“One of the greatest trade deals ever made!” President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday morning. “Also good for China and our long term relationship. 250 Billion Dollars will be coming back to our Country, and we are now in a great position for a Phase Two start. There has never been anything like this in U.S. history! USMCA NEXT!”

Kim Reynolds

Governor Kim Reynolds released the following statement in response to the White House’s announcement of a trade agreement with China:

“Today, President Trump secured a historic win for the American people. Forging a stronger trade agreement with China puts Iowa farmers, families, and small businesses first. It was an honor to attend the signing ceremony, at the invitation of the President, and witness such an iconic moment.

“By opening and expanding markets for our products, protecting intellectual property, and setting standards for currency valuation, President Trump has provided the American economy with a foundation for exponential growth and economic prosperity.

“I want to commend the President and his entire team, including Ambassador Branstad and trade Ambassador Lighthizer for being a staunch advocate for American farmers and workers. I look forward to working with the administration to build on the progress made today.”

Grassley

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today attended a White House signing ceremony for Phase One of a trade deal between the United States and China.

“President Trump and Ambassador Lighthizer should be commended for this significant progress toward a full and enforceable deal with China. Farmers have borne the brunt of retaliation throughout this trade war. At the White House today, I was thinking of my neighbors in Iowa and all the other farmers across the country who have stood strong throughout this process,” Grassley said. “I hope this proves to be a turning point in our economic relationship with China, but I’ve seen enough history to be clear-eyed. Not only must China follow through with its commitments in this Phase One deal, but also work toward a comprehensive agreement that ends forced technology transfers, intellectual property theft and unfair restrictions on U.S. goods, including agriculture. Only then will we know if China can be a reliable economic partner in the 21st century.”

Ernst

Senator Joni Ernst also was in Washington as the deal was signed.  She tweeted, “As Iowa’s 4th largest trading partner, China is a critically important market for Iowans, and this phase one deal – which is especially promising for our ag and manufacturing sectors – will help provide certainty for folks back home.”

continuance of big ag/big mess destroying the environment, Iowa’s water, top soil and air is beyond repair – what purpose is obtaining $ if you can not drink a clean glass of water without a whole house reverse osmosis system and a UV light system, you can not breathe clean air the air smell like pig manure and urine it’s disgusting and having planes spraying chemicals on everything – Truth

Sorry to burst your bubble, but business cannot exist without a market and the American public voted for this system with their dollars. It started with the chicken industry, then moved into the swine and now they are devising ways to gain control of the beef industry. The more you integrate and control the supply chain the less overall profit you need.

I voted president Trump to do his magic, business, that great wand that Obama talks about. Haters won’t recognize anything as long as Nancy and the deep state continues open their manipulative pie holes. Easy influenced won’t pay attention.

That’s really what needed to be done by our president to make sure the countries that have been taken advantage of our country and our citizens Young and old that we have a new sheriff in our government that has a desire to make sure they don’t any more and that’s why we voted for him to get back our country and our economy and our armed forces to make sure they get the message that we are not going to take it anymore and I will never vote for people who ignores our country and our citizens Young and old period Trump 2020 for America

I only ask: why had none of the previous five presidents had the courage to DEALon trade? The Obama administration was so “yellow” they had to have over a billion+ “green” to bribe a lopsided deal.

Never trust or believe any words or things that comes out of the big orange blobs administration.

So…unemployment numbers, economy are all fake news?

Pretty much, yes. Remember when he constantly called the unemployment numbers under Obama were fake? All the time. Now, the same reporting organization is not fake. Only 63% of those able to work in this country are working. His numbers are way down because more people have dropped out of the job market.

Trump just keeps on winning and winning and winning!

Winning only for himself and his robber-baron buddies.

And, the farmers, the 401k’s, the people and on and on. Don’t forget the lowest unemployment in history, wages going up, gas prices down, taxes down and a president who will defend our military, not sell them out like Obama.

I agree with you 100%!!!
