What does moving to Tampa have to offer?

If you live in the north-east or the mid-west, you may have been tempted by the idea of moving south. Moreover, you may have been tempted by the idea of moving somewhere with endless beaches and sands, like the Sunshine State of Florida. Tampa certainly seems to have it all with beaches being just a drive away and lots of quiet suburbs to settle down into. Let’s take a closer look into why people are making the move to Tampa.

History

If the area you move to has to have ‘charm’ far up on its list of credentials, then you won’t be disappointed by Tampa. There are plenty of little historical neighborhoods that have plenty of character and unique features. Ybor City, once the cigar capital of the world, is littered with historical buildings and the Channel District is a must-see for those who prefer high-rise condos and love little boutique stores. You can even go and learn a little bit more about Florida and Tampa’s history by visiting the Tampa Bay History Center, which details the personal history of Florida’s cigar rollers, pioneering cattle ranchers and Spanish explorers.

Affordable housing

Living in Tampa might just bring a much lower cost of living. Many Americans move south to states like Florida to experience the sunshine without the price-tag of somewhere like LA. Now only are houses much cheaper on average, but there’s also no state income tax, making it an incredibly affordable place to live.

Great food

Tampa is beginning to get a taste for different types of world food, and it’s certainly showing in the number of restaurants that are popping up. Whether you want to keep your family’s lunch or dinner on a budget or visit a Thai temple, you certainly won’t be stuck for variety

Warm weather year-round

If you have kids who are very sporty and active, then having to pack up and stay in during the winter months can be a bit of a bummer. However, Florida is known for its year-round warmth, even in the cooler months. Strolls on the beach, surfing and volleyball needn’t need to be reserved for just the summer months – in fact, you can even do it in the winter.

Beaches nearby

Beaches are just under an hour away from Tampa. Sandy shorelines that are recommended are St. Pete’s beach, which was ranked in seventh place in the entire United States by Trip Advisor. Many people visit this beach for sports such as windsurfing and paddleboarding. If you’re a family who likes a party atmosphere, then Treasure Island has picturesque views, white sands and a holiday resort atmosphere to match.

Tampa is a great place to live if you are all about balance. The beaches are there if you want them, and far away enough that you make it out to try other things. With such great weather all year round, it makes sense to go and make the most of Florida’s impressive scenery and wildlife. If you do decide to investigate further, finding a real estate agent is the best place to start, and someone who could maybe show you what you’re missing out on.
