BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS – Following in the footsteps of other retailers in recent days following yet another school gun massacre, Walmart has become the biggest gun seller yet to put big restriction on the sale of firearms and has even nixed the sale of toy guns.

Here is the statement issued today by Walmart:

In light of recent events, we’ve taken an opportunity to review our policy on firearm sales. Going forward, we are raising the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age. We will update our processes as quickly as possible to implement this change.

In 2015, Walmart ended sales of modern sporting rifles, including the AR-15. We also do not sell handguns, except in Alaska where we feel we should continue to offer them to our customers. Additionally, we do not sell bump stocks, high-capacity magazines and similar accessories. We have a process to monitor our eCommerce marketplace and ensure our policies are applied.

We take seriously our obligation to be a responsible seller of firearms and go beyond Federal law by requiring customers to pass a background check before purchasing any firearm. The law would allow the sale of a firearm if no response to a background check request has been received within three business days, but our policy prohibits the sale until an approval is given.

We are also removing items from our website resembling assault-style rifles, including nonlethal airsoft guns and toys. Our heritage as a company has always been in serving sportsmen and hunters, and we will continue to do so in a responsible way.

  1. I think we ought to ban AR-15s in the movies. Other automatics and semi-automatics also. I’m sure the libs (like you know who) will get behind this. Thank me very much!

  2. You’re clearly neither a modern Hunter or Target shooter and you have no clue what you are talking about. The ar-15 piston free design offers superb accuracy which is why it is such a popular firearm for precision long range prairie dog hunting, but also big game, including whitetail with proper bullet selection. Thank you for letting us know your plans on contacting them though. I’m heading out to the fairgrounds to attend the gun show now, I will make sure to tell everyone I see to swing by fleet farm on their way home to voice their support, and perhaps even pick up one of their fine “murder weapons”!

    1. And you clearly are blowing smoke out of your ass, the AR 15’s come in both Direct Impingment & Piston Driven models
I have had both DI and piston AR rifles. My personal opinion is as range/competition, pistons are a better choice. They are cleaner and I personally don’t notice the accuracy difference. DI would be my combat choice as the parts are easier to replace. Both are great systems and it boils down to ones preferrence.
And if you need to have a 30 round magazine, you need to take up a different sport / hobby as you suck.

  3. 16, 19, & 20 year old’s can join or be drafted in the military though, this is just another topic Christ’s reference to the hypocrite’s He was speaking of.

  4. Walmart and the other spineless companies who are discriminating against 18-20 year olds should just stop selling guns and related accessories altogether if they want to take a position. Where is the ACLU on this one? Any other issue in which a group is discriminated against they would have a lawsuit filed immediately! Boycott Walmart!

  5. Pretty sad when retailers have more guts than our government officials in the aid of preventing school shootings. Just goes to show you that when you are paid off by the NRA, like most Republicans are , they will not act in the best interest of the public.

  6. Better than Walmart’s home cuntry CHINA ! Can you even own a gun in Chinaland ? – Bet not – might be a rebellion by the million people starving to death over there. – FK Wallmart and their commie corporation.

  7. I don’t see them curtailing the sale of video games that promote mass murders in a most henious manner. Where is the real justification in elimination of some toys and not others?

  8. Now its Mills Fleet Farms turn., the modern hunter and target shooter does not need assault rifles. they are worthless for hunting with and target shooters don’t see accuracy in using them so what good are they, I myself wont be shopping at Mills until they no longer advertise or sell these “weapons of Murder”. everyone should write or call the head offices and tell them the same, no going into their stores until the assault rifles are gone.,

    1. Lots of people carry large frame revolvers for protection against grizzlies there. Not sure why that matters but I’m guessing that’s the reasoning

  9. Wow, airsoft guns and toys. Another step toward total elimination of anything resembling a gun. Just like I mentioned in a previous post, scoffed at by a poster resembling a sheep.

    1. If anyone would know about sheep, it would be you Allen.
“Honestly officer, I was only trying to help that sheep over the fence!” – Allen
