MASON CITY – Mason City police officer Noah Friese is Officer of the Year.

According to the Mason City police department, MCPD Officer Noah Friese was recently recognized as the Iowa Police Chiefs Association Officer of the Year for 2021. He was nominated for his response and valor in the October 2021 shooting on the Plaza.

According to the Mason City police department, on October 3, 2021, at approximately 1:13 a.m., the Mason City Police Department responded to a fight/shots fired call near State Street and Federal Avenue. When an officer arrived, they found several people fleeing the area. An officer involved shooting took place at that time, police said.
