Cops nab shooter who allegedly murdered a man in Iowa

DUBUQUE – A man was shot dead in Dubuque this weekend, and cops say they have the shooter in custody.

On June 4, 2022, at approximately 6:58 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to 1913 Central Avenue for a report of shots fired. The initial investigation revealed Keywani Evans, 30, of Freeport, IL shot the adult male victim multiple times, following a confrontation outside 1913 Central Avenue.

The victim was transported to MercyOne Dubuque, where he was pronounced dead.

During the early morning hours of June 5, 2022, Officers utilized the city of Dubuque traffic cameras to locate and track Evans near the Goodwill at 2121 Holliday Dr. where he was taken into custody at 7:36 a.m.

Evans is charged on an arrest warrant with Murder 1st Degree with a $1,000,000 cash bond.

The name of the victim may be released in the next several days, pending next of kin notifications.

The investigation remains active.

Murder in the 1st Degree is a class “A” felony punishable by life in prison.
