CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man committed the serious crime of not only stealing beer – but tossing it into the river.
The incident happened on Wednesday, October 18. At about 12:42 PM, Charles City police were called on a report of shoplifter in the 600 block of Gilbert Street. Police soon encountered 30-year-old Dean Larry Naeve in the 100 block of Milwaukee. Allegedly, Naeve stole beer from a business, was intoxicated, and threw some of the beer into a river.
Naeve was jailed on charges of public intoxication 3rd offense, 5th degree theft, and putting debris in the river.
Probably not the best idea to steal beer by the police station.
