Convicted domestic abuser in jail for violating probation

MASON CITY – A Mason City man who was convicted just weeks ago of domestic assault involving strangulation is back in jail Tuesday for allegedly violating his probation.

According to records, Dustin Alan Reich, age 26, was served a warrant after turning himself in at the Cerro Gordo County Jail Tuesday afternoon. The warrant had been issued November 7th by Judge Annette Boehlje after the Iowa Department of Corrections filed a probation violation report that day.  Reich had been placed on $50 per month payment plan to pay Iowa courts $257 in court costs starting October 29th; he still owes the entire amount.

Reich was pled guilty on September 30th to domestic assault involving strangulation and was placed on  5 years of probation.  Judge Karen Salic threw out a $750 fine and suspended a 5 year prison sentence and terminated a no contact order with the victim.  Salic also dismissed a charge of domestic assault –  third or subsequent offense – against Reich.

Reich is being held on $5,000 cash-only bond and faces a December 2nd court hearing.

Good, I’m glad his happy ass is in jail. Maybe he will get “abused” while he’s in there, so he can see how it feels.

What is wrong with these Judges? This whole family is nothing but a bunch of thugs. Turn him loose again and lets see if he kills someone this time.
