SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa courthouse was under threat Tuesday evening when a man entered the building with a metal box and indicated it was a bomb.

On Tuesday April 15th, at approximately 8:36 PM, the Scott Emergency Communication Center received a call of a possible bomb threat at the entrance to the Scott County Courthouse.

The Davenport Police Department responded along with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Rock Island County Bomb Squad.

The initial investigation found that 34-year-old Noah D. Ackerland was inside the
vestibule of the courthouse when he stated he was going to “blow the building to pieces”. He pointed at a metal box that he had with him stating that it was a bomb.

Officers were able to talk Ackerland out of the building and take him into custody without incident.

The Rock Island County Bomb Squad investigated the metal box and determined that it was not a threat.

Ackerland (pictured at top) was taken to the Scott County Jail and charged with Threats of Terrorism.
