MASON CITY – A man walked into a northwest Mason City home unannounced Thursday afternoon, an NIT reader reported.
After checking with police, they were able to confirm the details as reported to our newsroom.
On Thursday afternoon at about 3:48 PM, police confirmed that “a chubby black male” aged about 18-20, wearing a red and white striped shirt, entered a house located at the 1000 block of 2nd Street NW without knocking.
According to the NIT reader who reported the incident, a pregnant woman was in the home at the time and confronted the male as he entered. The male told the woman that he “just needed to check his email.” The woman, who is a relative of the home owner, told the man to get out and he complied and left without any further incident. Police searched the area but were not able to locate the male.
Police have not received any other reports similar to this one. The person at the residence who reported the incident did check with family members who were not home at the time to see if it may be one of their friends. They did not think it was any of their friends.
He is just lucky he didn’t get shot. He would have if he walked into my house uninvited.
Unfortunately, Iowa is not a “Stand Your Ground” or Castle Doctrine state, so this idiot just walking into your house without permission isn’t a valid reason for blowing a hole in his head. You need to keep that in mind, understand the legal issues you will face. Remember that the (in)justice system in this area is completely screwed.
However, should some tweeker step through my door, they can expect to be met with the same response. They will be shot… and I will make it look like an attack was in progress that forced me to shoot them, then I will contact the authorities to come scoop up the remains.
@John_Bender-Exactly. I would goad him into coming towards me and that would be that. If they came into my house uninvited I would not hesitate. They would get told once to get out and the next thing they would hear is the 357 going off in their ear. Iowa is not a stand your ground but you do have the right to protect yourself and family.
