MASON CITY – Police caught a wanted man in connection to a felony domestic assault he committed as he drove drunk, and now he’s serving 6 months behind bars.
Mason City police and a Cerro Gordo county deputy responded to a rural area near 17624 290 Street on January 29 after midnight for a report of a suspicious subject. As a result, police conducted a traffic stop and investigated the driver, 38-year-old Ted William Cordle of Mason City. He was found to be wanted on a warrant in connection to a felony domestic assault he was convicted of last year. He was also wanted on an arrest warrant out of Worth county for possession of a firearm as a felon. In addition, police found Cordle to be intoxicated. He was then arrested on the warrant and a charge of first-offense operating while intoxicated.
Coddle later pled guilty to drunk driving and was sentenced to 6 months behind bars and over $1,800 in fines and court fees. He was also found guilty of violating his probation in the domestic assault case and was given a concurrent 6 month jail term. He’s in the county jail now, serving out his sentence until June.
