Mason City woman awaits sentencing after robbing another woman of cell phone

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman entered a guilty plea in connection to a felony robbery charge after she battled another woman in a parking lot earlier this year.

On Monday night, January 30 at 5:10 PM, a Mason City police officer observed two females in some type of physical altercation in the Yes Way parking lot, located at 1303 4th Street SW. The officer and other officers responded. Both females were separated. The the aftermath of the ensuing investigation into the incident, it was alleged that Heather Adams, age 26 of Mason City, confronted a known female about some type of ongoing or prior disagreement. Adams then allegedly took the victim’s phone without permission with the intent to deprive the victim of the phone. During the theft, Adams allegedly assaulted the victim to facilitate the theft. The victim had minor injuries to her face. It is unknown if the victim sought treatment later for her injuries.

Adams was charged with felony second-degree robbery and jailed. Adams’ vehicle was towed to the police department, and police applied for a search warrant for the vehicle.

Adams remained held in the county jail on bond until late February, when she was released under DCS supervision. A judge accepted an unspecified plea agreement in the case and Adams no awaits sentencing on March 27.
