King Votes to End Obama’s Flight Delays

Congressman Steve King
Congressman Steve King

Washington, DC- Congressman Steve King released the following statement on Friday after voting in favor of the “Reducing Flight Delays Act” which will allow the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to internally transfer $253 million, eliminating the need for further furloughs of air traffic controllers through the end of the fiscal year. It also may prevent the closure of smaller federally funded towers operated by private contractors that many feared would be forced to close under the sequester.

“Travel delays caused by President Obama’s sequester have already impacted the nation, but safety and convenience should not be sacrificed for political gain,” said King. “Today I voted to ensure that the air traffic controller system will remain intact, and that our economy and society will not be impacted by frustrating travel delays. Moreover, this legislation shows that House Republicans do not need to cave to the President’s demand of higher taxes to replace any or all of the sequester. We can replace the sequester with common sense spending cuts and flexibility within the budget.”

Obama is the jerk who made the cuts where it would upset people who needed it the most! He didn’t cut things that didn’t matter, only things that would really rile people up. That’s his agenda.

The repubs are the jerks who are so bent on cutting back things that hurt. You know that, Katie.

Stupid, don’t live up to your name. Obama wrote down what cuts he wanted hoping the republicans would give in to his tax raises but when they said no to more taxes now it is the republicans fault. You really need to find better heros. I do agree with you on them only voting on this one when there are millions of people in need but why you are always blaming the good guys is beyond me. That should ruffle some feathers.

Why did we need a sequester, Maybe?

In my personal opinion, we didn’t need a sequester. They do need to cut spending on all this extra stuff like how come an apple tastes so good or stupid stuff like that. Stop sending money to other countries. The sequester was a political move to try to pressure congress into raising taxes.

All the do nothings had to do was vote to move some money from one account where they had a surplus to the one where they needed it. There was no new money involved. It is not rocket science, it is called management. We need to impeach everyone of these idiots, democrats and republicans and put in term limits and people who will represent us.

Obama’s sequester? Boy, this weasel is something else!

I notice they didn’t vote to end the sequester cuts for cancer patients or elderly people receiving meals on wheels. Just lines at the airport for jerks like themselves!

This is a national bipartisan shame!

sickastupid, the sequester was Obama’s idea in the first place. How does that make Steve King a weasel? Please become informed before you rant.

And why did anybody need a “sequester”? My comment stands.

Sickastupd, because Obama demanded it at the time to make a deal with republicans about raising other taxes, now he is acting like he knew nothing about it. This was not a cut in overall spending, just an decrease of 2% of the increase that was planned. We are still paying more than we did last year, just 2% less than the increased spending that was planned. Again, Obama was the one that determined where these cuts were to be made. This was his deal and you are now asking why we need this sequester? I would be more respectful of your views if you really were informed on the facts.

And I of yours just as soon as you stop acting like the repubs have no hand in this chicanery.

The republicans didn’t want to raise taxes, obama did. Who is more at fault, the guy who tried to extrort money out of the nation or the people that tried to stop him?

You know as well as I do the damage to this country that was done by the unfunded wars and massive tax cuts for the rich, Maybe. We will never have a fighting chance until we start looking at this truthfully and stop playing politics. To say that ANY president is trying to extort money from a nation is so offensive on the surface, but so disturbing when I realize that you believe that because of the poisonous right wing blogs and Fox News.

Just sad.

Stupid, I’ve told happy many times that I don’t usually watch fox news, I read articles online from dozens of web sites. As for the wars, they were a nessessity, an unavoidable evil. If we didn’t fight those wars we were sending a message to anybody out there that we are here for the taking, that we are a country of pacifists that would rather give up everything that we own and are at the drop of a hat. That we are the easiest target they ever had and they could come over here and kill as many of us as they want and we will just line up and let them. We had to fight this war and it’s because of people like you here at home that makes it very hard for us over there to win the battle. I admit that when bush was in office we ran up the deficit but since Obama was elected he has more that doubled the deficit and most of that was in his first term. When I say that he was trying to extort money from this nation, as disturbing as that sounds it is the truth. No politics involved, just plain outright extortion. Where did he come up with this idea? Maybe he came up with it while working with the unions or the mob? Where ever he came up with the idea right now he is holding my country hostage and a lot of the yahoos in congress. democrats and republicans, are right there with him.

@maybe-Truth, logic and reason do not belong in a liberals mind.

Hey stupid, do you want to see how an extortionists works? Check out this article.

Good god, Maybe! Did you READ it? Even while attempting to spin it, the authors of this article were FORCED to admit that it affects 0.0041% of the 401ks in this country!! Less than HALF A PERCENT! It’s for the top dogs, Maybe, not you and I!

And let me ask you this – where were you when Bush crash the economy which made the stock market crash which sliced everybody’s 401k in half or less? Where were you? Cuz mine still doesn’t have the value it used to – thanks to BUSH.

You don’t actually think that what only effects less than 1% of us will not eventually effect all of us do you? This is just a foot in the door, they compared this to Greece which effected everybody.

You’re seriously going to fall for that? Really? Placing a miniscule tax on 401ks and some other investment monies has absolutely nothing to do with Greece.

Greece’s economy collapsed because of AUSTERITY measures, which the republicans here are pushing. Thank god we still have a strong democratic process to stop them from making us just like Greece, but it’s no thanks to the teapublicans. The cut, cut, cut mentality, while cutting wages, slashing benefits and increasing profits for the ones at the top are the exact opposite of what we need. And that’s exactly what Greece did.

Again I guess we agree to disagree. We will see I guess.

They didn’t vote to stop the waiting till it was time for them to fly home, was this vote for us or for them?
