North Iowa Choral Society auditions to be held at NIACC

NIACC
MASON CITY – North Iowa Choral Society, sponsored by North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and under the direction of Linda Ferjak, will hold open auditions for the 2018/2019 season on Sunday, September 16, and Sunday, September 23, from 4:00-5:30 pm in the NIACC Vocal Music Room (Fine Arts 172). Auditions will be held for both the Choral Society’s Children’s Choir and the Adult Choir. The Children’s Choir was created as an extension to the Adult Ensemble to provide a high quality performance opportunity for children in grades 4-8 with unchanged voices. College credit is available for NIACC students and choral directors. Vocalists should come prepared to sing a musical selection of their choice (can be as simple as “My Country ‘Tis of Thee) and have a vocal range check. An accompanist will be available during the open auditions. The Adult Ensemble performs sacred and secular music from various genres including classics, spirituals, musical theater, jazz, swing, blues, etc. Rehearsals and performances are held on the NIACC campus. Children and adults alike with a love and passion for singing should consider this opportunity. We have great music to learn and important messages to share with our audience. If you have questions, please call or text Choral Society President, Julie Taylor, at 641-529-6039 or for the Children’s Choir, please call or text Betsy Kirby at 641-583-2117.
