MASON CITY – Beginning Monday, June 24, 2013, South Carolina Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Riverheights Drive and 5th Street SE for the installation of water valves. A valve also needs to be repaired at 4th Street SE between South Maryland Avenue and South Carolina Avenue.
All residents will be able to get access to their homes either at Riverheights Drive and South Carolina or at 4th Street SE and South Maryland Avenue.
Water will be shut off beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 for the following areas:
*1st Street SE from Carolina Avenue to the railroad tracks
*3rd Street SE from Carolina Avenue to the dead end
*Carolina Avenue from 1st Street SE to 6th Street SE
It is anticipated the water should be restored by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 25.
These portions of the roadway will be closed to through traffic for approximately 4-5 days.
Avoid traveling in this area and plan an alternate route during this time. Expect congestion and delays around this area while the street is under construction. Please watch for construction workers and equipment if you are traveling near the work zone.
