MASON CITY – Award winners were named in the 36th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum on Thursday, May 12th. Thirty-nine entries by twenty-five artists were chosen for the exhibition by a panel of three judges. Judges for this year’s competition were Jason Smith formally of Mason City, 35th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show Best in Show award winner, Dean Swenson, Gallery Director at Waldorf University and Laura Anderson, Programming Associate at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum.

The Best in Show award of $150 was presented to Dean Genth of Mason City for his digital photograph entitled A Symphony of Fibers. Harsha Jayawardena of Mason City received the second award of $100 for his digital metal print entitled Enchanted. The third place award of $50 went to Brad Janson of Clear Lake for his digital photograph, Storm Weathered.

An Honorable Mention was awarded to Lorrie Staudt of Dougherty for her digital metal print, The Sky is the Limit.

The exhibition is on display through Saturday, July 16, and is sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund. Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free of charge.
