
FORT MEYERS, FLORIDA – A tragic auto accident has claimed the life of a Mason City woman.
Kristin Knudtson Lee, age 38, died as a result of an auto accident Monday, May 16 in Fort Meyers, Florida. Lt. Greg Bueno of the Florida Highway Patrol told the news-press.com that four cars, two vans and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. A friend of Ms. Lee told NIT this morning that she was in a taxi cab with her boyfriend, Austin Perkins, age 34, of Albert Lea, Minnesota. They were on their way to the airport to come back to Iowa. Mr. Perkins survived the crash, as did the taxi driver, but both are listed in critical condition in a Florida hospital burn unit. At least 7 other people were hurt in the accident, according to a report.
A memorial service wil be held in Albert Lea for Kristin will be held this Sunday, May 22, at Bayview Funeral Home in Albert Lea from 3 PM to 6 PM. A funeral will be held Monday, May 23, at 2 PM at East Freeborn Lutheran Church near Albert Lea.

Seriously tragic event. Wow. On the way home and some douchebag taxi driver wasn’t able to respond correctly to avoid killing his passenger. Aware drivers don’t get caught up in situations like this.
