MASON CITY – Second Ward City Council candidate Jodi Draper continues to knock on doors in the northwest section of town.
Recently, Draper formally announced her candidacy for the Second Ward seat held by Travis Hickey, who was elected in 2009.
NorthIowaToday.com caught up with Draper on the campaign trail and managed to get a short interview, as some folks have asked for information on her campaign. Many believe the race between Draper and Hickey will be a close one.
Jodi Draper is 42 years old and a mother of 6. She currently works as Finance Manger for Cerro Gordo County Social Services, Mental Health and Disability Fund 10 for 21 counties in Iowa.
Looks like Jodi is out in the community working her tail off. From what I understand, she is no stranger to hard work and is very bright. She apparently has no ax to grind and has no personal agenda.
When Travis Hickey ran, he wanted to get rid of the sanitation department, since they fired his dad. So, he and Bookmeyer hooked up and tried their best. Not good enough. They still want that to happen…good luck with that.
I am sure that Jodi will continue to walk the neighborhoods in 2nd ward and listen to the people. That appears to be what she is all about.
I think her strategy will pay off…
I Have known Jodi Draper for several years and have worked with her as well. She is very educated and fair. She is able to listen effectively and understand what the person is saying and then assist that person with an effective outcome to their problem. She will listen to the citizens in our community, not one. not two. but all of them and she will gather information that will assist her in coming up with the most effective decisions to any of the problems they have asked her to look into.
Our City would be very fortunate to have her on our council!
Thank you very much Kathy. Your endorsement means so much to me.
