MASON CITY – The Oasis Tattoo Company and Tattoo Muzik presented the Tattoo Palooza and Cancer Benefit Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Mason City.
Linda Gordon, who was diagnosed with Abdominal cancer this past July, wasn’t sure earlier in the week how she’d feel, or if she’d be able to attend the benefit, but she was there. She was greeting family and friends with a smile saying, “I’m taking it one day at a time, that’s all I can do.”
Linda had been informed that she’d no longer be able to have chemo. “I was undergoing several treatments but we were told that my type of cancer is immuned to the therapy, so now I started experimental drugs.” She has just recently started this, “so it will be awhile before we know if it helps. It doesn’t help with the pain,” she informed.

Don Murl, Linda’s son-in-law and coordinator of this event, said, “With the help of many generous businesses and friends, we were able to pull this event together in a month. We’ve had many donations for the raffle and people willing to help.”
A Donation Drive Raffle and Give-A-Way started at 8:00 pm, with a special price for bowling – $10.00 for 3 games – which started at 5:00 pm. Half the proceeds from bowling went to help Linda with expenses. There was a baking contest, electronics sale, singing contest with prizes, tattoo contest and many more fun events for people to enjoy and participate in.
“We would like to especially say a special “Thank You” to the Rose Bowl for holding this event,” said Murl.
“Any donations or help will be used for my living and travel expenses. Thank you for your help,” said Linda.
“Linda is a really, really wonderful person that could use your help,” said Murl.
If anyone would like to make a donation, please call Don at 641-512-5206.
