North Iowa sex offender faces charges in two counties

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA – A North Iowa sex offender is facing charges in two counties.

Tyler Uhlenhopp, age 21, faces charges of violating the state’s sex offender registry in Franklin county and Hancock county, court records show.

Uhlenhopp allegedly now lives in Hampton, but shows a St. Ansgar, Iowa address in the state’s sex offender registry. He was arrested last week on a warrant in Mitchell county and brought to the Franklin county jail in Hampton.

Uhlenhopp has entered a not guilty plea in Hancock county and will face a May 4 jury trial there.  He was released last week from the Franklin county jail.  No court date has been set from there, records show.

Uhlenhopp was charged by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in 2014 after he allegedly enticed a female minor under the age of 16. He was later sentenced in April of 2015 to a deferred judgment on a charge of enticing a minor under the age of 16 and placed on 5 years of probation and ordered to pay $1,213.75 in court fees and costs.
