Elderly Iowa man dies when struck by teen driver

An elderly Iowa man pulled out from a stop sign on a U.S. Highway and was struck by a teen driver, ending his life in tragic fashion.

BOONE, IOWA – An elderly Iowa man pulled out from a stop sign on a U.S. Highway and was struck by a teen driver, ending his life in tragic fashion.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on May 29, 2025. At 8:24 AM that morning, At Montana Avenue and Highway 30 near Boone, Iowa, 89-year-old Dale Ray Crouse of Boone was driving his 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck south on Montana Avenue when he approached U.S. Highway 30. The Patrol says Crouse failed to stop and entered the roadway. The Ford Ranger was then struck by a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by 17-year-old Aubrey Rose Alexander of Templeton, Iowa. She was unable to avoid the collision.

As a result, Crouse was killed. Multiple local agencies assisted the Patrol with the aaccident, which remains under investigation.

According to an obituary, Mr. Crouse was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as Elder and Secretary. He worked for John Deere Des Moines Works for 31 years as an Industrial Electrician.
