CLEAR LAKE – A young man from Garner accused of felony theft and other crimes after an incident in July of last year on Clear Lake has been arrested on a warrant for a violation of pre-trial release conditions.
Joshua Lawrence Engstler, age 19, pled not guilty on August 7 to felony 2nd degree theft. Judge Annette Boehlje originally set a jury trial date for September 30, 2014. However, after a number of continuances in the case, no trial date appears to be set, and Englster was out of jail on bond under supervision. He was accused in November of violating his pre-trial release conditions, and a warrant was ordered for his arrest.
A Cerro Gordo deputy finally served Engstler with the warrant on February 12, and has been jailed and held on bond on charges of felony second degree theft, unlawful consuming of alcohol, reckless use of a watercraft, operating without an owner’s consent, interference with official acts and boating under the influence.
