SAC COUNTY – A Northern Iowa couple with dim headlights was stopped and cops soon detected the odor or marijuana, leading to two arrests.
According to the Sac county sheriff’s office, a traffic stop was conducted on the evening of May 4, 2024, at the intersection of Highway 71 and 255th Street. Officers stopped a 2014 Dodge car with dim headlights and during the investigation, an odor of marijuana was detected. Larame Leo Swenson of Laurens was identified as the driver.
During the stop and search, officers located drug paraphernalia in the front passenger seat area. The passenger, 35-year-old Mist Renea Pettit of Laurens, was arrested on a charge of second-offense possession of marijuana. As deputies conducted a field sobriety test on Swenson, deputies allege that a baggy of marijuana fell out of his pants. He was arrested on a charge of third-offense possession of marijuana.
Both suspects were taken to the Sac county jail.
