HAMPTON, IOWA – Northern Iowa man Daniel Embree decided to post nasty flyers at local diverse businesses and now he is guilty of hate crimes, costing him time on probation, community service and thousands owed to Iowa courts.

Daniel Embree allegedly posted flyers that read “Illegal immigrant hunting permit” at Latin businesses and homes in Hampton, Iowa, in summer of 2024. Records show his activities were in June and August of 2024. His actions put many at unease and the community rallied to find out the identity of the culprit who placed the flyers around Hampton. Some notes read, “Illegal immigrant hunting permit. No Bag Limit. Tagging not required. Trump 2024.”

Embree was eventually identified and charged with a swath of crimes, including felonies. However, in a plea deal, the most serious charges were dropped. He entered a guilty plea to the following crimes:

– CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 5TH DEGREE – HATE CRIME (5 counts)

– TREPASS – HATE CRIME

Embree (pictured at top) was ordered to serve 2 years of probation as a short jail term was suspended. He may also perform community service or possibly pay Iowa courts $634.50 on the trespass charge and $4,336.81 for the criminal mischief charges.

  1. The phone number to report suspected immigration violations to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is 1-866-DHS-2-ICE (1-866-347-2423). You can also submit tips online at the ICE website.
It’s important to understand the potential consequences of reporting someone to ICE. Depending on the circumstances, individuals could face detention and deportation proceedings.

  2. I can see a trespassing charge. The rest seems like obvious satire. He should have just left the ICE tip line information.
