CEDAR FALLS — The University of Northern Iowa is expanding its alcohol marketing inside the UNI-Dome with a newly branded booze station for Panther football fans—even as fewer Americans say they are drinking.
UNI Athletics announced August 25, 2026, that fans attending home football games this fall will be able to visit the new NÜTRL Zone on the north concourse of the UNI-Dome.
The station will feature NÜTRL, a vodka-based hard seltzer sold by Anheuser-Busch. NÜTRL advertising and branding will also appear in various locations throughout the UNI-Dome on football game days.
UNI Athletics and Learfield’s Panther Sports Properties partnered with Anheuser-Busch and Waterloo-based distributor Fahr Beverage to create the new alcohol station.
“We’re excited to introduce the NÜTRL Zone at the UNI-Dome,” said Tyler Denny, director of sales and marketing for Fahr Beverage.
Mike Murray, general manager of Panther Sports Properties, said the arrangement will bring additional beverage choices and co-branded products to Cedar Falls.
“It’s a commitment to enhancing the game day experience inside the UNI-Dome,” Murray said.
The new booze branding arrives during a noticeable shift in American drinking habits.
Only 54 percent of American adults said they consumed alcohol, down from 58 percent in 2024 and 62 percent in 2023. Growing concerns about the health effects of alcohol have helped drive the decline, with more Americans now viewing even moderate drinking as potentially harmful.
Despite that broader decline, alcohol sales remain a visible part of the college sports business, where universities and corporate partners increasingly market beer, hard seltzer and other alcoholic products as part of the game-day experience.
NÜTRL is made with vodka, seltzer and fruit juice. The product is marketed as containing 100 calories, no added sugar and no gluten. Its primary variety pack includes mango, raspberry, pineapple and watermelon flavors.
The expanded commercial agreement is being managed by Panther Sports Properties, the Cedar Falls-based Learfield operation that holds UNI Athletics’ exclusive multimedia rights, along with Learfield’s corporate partnerships division.
Fahr Beverage has distributed beer and other beverages throughout the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa since 1958. The Waterloo company operates more than 70,000 square feet of office and cooler space, employs more than 100 full-time workers and serves as the official beverage provider for UNI Athletics.
Anheuser-Busch is the American brewing company behind Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob and other alcohol brands. The St. Louis-based company operates as the United States subsidiary of global brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev.
UNI Athletics and its corporate partners are encouraging fans who purchase alcoholic drinks inside the UNI-Dome to consume them responsibly.
