Construction updates in Mason City

East State Street curb and gutter work still underway.
From City Hall –

MASON CITY – 6th Street SW was re-opened to traffic at Monroe Avenue Friday afternoon as work on the rehabilitation project moves west to Fillmore Avenue. Sanitary sewer and water main improvements will be performed during the week of October 1st at that location. During that time the street will be closed at Pierce Avenue. Access through the area will be open at 8th Street SW and Pierce Avenue.

The contractor will also be working in the intersections of Tyler and Van Buren Avenues. Traffic will experience interruptions in those locations. Please use alternate routes if possible or allow additional travel time and exercise safety if traveling through the project area.

As rehabilitation of East State Street continues, the curb and gutter section along the south side will be reconstructed during the week of October 1st.  The approach pavement at many access points is also expected to be replaced directly following the curb and gutter operation. The removal of the existing curb and gutter section along the north side of the street will begin following the completion of the south side reconstruction.

The replacement of sanitary sewer manholes has been completed; that contractor will begin installing storm sewer structures at York Avenue; then moving to Ohio Avenue.

Limited two-way traffic will continue throughout the week. Please reduce your speed and remain alert when traveling through the construction zone, for your safety and that of the construction worker.
