MANLY — Linda Marie King, 77, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services are planned.
Linda was born May 7, 1949, to Glen and Lola (Knapp) Hambly. The eldest of two children, she grew up in Mason City with her younger brother, Morris, and graduated from Mason City High School.
She built a rewarding career with Interstate Power, now known as Alliant Energy. Through determination, perseverance and a strong work ethic, Linda rose through the company’s ranks and became a foreman, a position she proudly held.
Linda found her soulmate in Jon “Jack” King. They brought out the best in each other and were married October 11, 1984, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Mason City. Their marriage brought two families together, and Linda and Jack built a life rich with love, friendship, family and treasured memories.
Family was at the center of Linda’s life. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was equally devoted to her many friends. Fiercely loyal to those she loved, Linda enjoyed her book club as well as sharing a bottle of wine and good conversation with close friends.
Linda found happiness outdoors, especially in the patio oasis she created at her home. She enjoyed landscaping, tending to her flowers and making her surroundings beautiful.
Traveling with Jack was another favorite part of her life. The couple shared many memorable RV trips and adventures over the years.
Linda was known for being effortlessly elegant and always well put together. She also took great pride in keeping a beautiful home, where everything was carefully maintained and rarely out of place.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory include her four children, Tammy (Dennis) Fender, David (Molly) King, Jeff (Nicole Ryden) King and Debbie (Chad Kober) King; her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Morris (Barb) Hambly; son-in-law, Steve Whitney, and his brother, Tim; along with extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Lori Whitney; parents, Glen and Lola Hambly; and Jack’s parents, Leonard and Ruth King.
