CLEAR LAKE — Amy Irene Cole (Vosburgh, Leake), 53, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 22, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE in Mason City. A service will follow at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel through the tribute fund on the funeral home’s website.
Amy was born January 17, 1973, in Mason City to Jack and Marge (Wilson) Leake. She was raised in Nora Springs and graduated from school there.
She later moved to Des Moines after meeting Ryan, with whom she had two children, Chelsea and Hunter. Amy eventually returned to North Iowa and worked as a surgical technician.
Her life took another turn when she met Jim, whom her family described as her soulmate. Their careers brought them to Carlisle and Minneapolis before they ultimately made their way back to Clear Lake.
Amy faced serious health challenges in recent years. She began dialysis in 2021 and underwent a successful kidney transplant in October 2024. Her brother David was her kidney donor.
Free from dialysis after the transplant, Amy made the most of the time that followed before developing complications associated with a weakened immune system.
Those closest to her remember Amy as a fighter with a magnetic personality and an ability, along with Jim, to make friends almost anywhere.
She loved bringing family and friends together, particularly at Christmas, when she enjoyed sharing her cooking and baking. Amy also enjoyed traveling and discovering new places with Jim.
Her other interests included purses, animals, cooking shows and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
Amy is survived by her mother, Marge (Wilson) Leake; siblings Lori (Eric) Botts, Kathy (Ed) Mahlstedt and David (Becca) Leake; children Chelsea (Jose) Barrios-Vosburgh and Hunter (Jessica) Vosburgh; her husband, Jim Cole; Jim’s children, Casey and Allison Cole; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Leake; her brother, Mark; her aunt Shirley; her friend Dawn Stevens; and her beloved boxer, Cooper.
